XML Management for All Business, Not Just for Techies!
When people think of XML applications and XML management, words like business and technology come to mind. But, with the help of an XML content server as a platform for any business wanting to control content, the sky is the limit to what kind of content projects can be created. XML management refers to making the most out of your XML content using XQuery, through an XQuery engine. With the right XQuery engine, large content organizations can search for complete categories, specific chapters or precise footnotes even if an organization has terabytes worth of information. For example, an XML content server provides the necessary platform to help organizations that have large content bases like publishers, insurance companies and government agencies gain control of their content as well as reuse and repurpose it. With an XQuery engine, XML content management has never been easier. For example, the Greenwood Publishing Group installed an XML content server with an XQuery engine, enabling them to search all of their content. The publishing group wanted to build an application to help people find recipes within a database called “Cooking with the Bible.” Since the bible is such a large text, and there are scores of Middle Eastern recipes the Greenwood Publishing Group needed an organized way to handle all of their content. Even if their current content wasn’t already in XML, with the XML content server, all of the content, no matter whether pictures, graphs or videos would be automatically converted into XML and could also be included into the query. Imagine how many projects could be completed in a matter of hours instead of days if you were able to pull out of your database all the images, recordings, documents and charts of a single subject and then repurpose that information into another publication or other type of media? Greenwood Publishing did just that- by taking advantage of their XML content server and their XQuery engine, they were able to research and find exact passages, historical evidence and meals and then create a book- “Cooking with the Bible.” Insurance organizations are using the XQuery engine to quickly complete reports, law firms are using XQuery engines to research dense legal cases more quickly and airlines are taking advantage of reusing already completed information to re-create flight manuals as well as user guides and reference manuals. Digital content is growing at a huge rate everyday not only by each email everyone writes, but the previous paper content that is now going digital needs a storage place. With XML content servers using XQuery, XML management of all of your personal files, business or other industry thick with content overflow can now take control and finally find what they are looking for and make money in the process. |
